Belgium

Country profile:

In Belgium, our research will be exploring the legal frameworks and regulatory infrastructures in place at the EU level, which govern Farm to Fork (F2F) and the experiences of irregular migrants therein. Through a holistic analysis of the interaction between these different infrastructures across four policy domains – migration management, the social pillar, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility – we aim to develop a better understanding of how they shape F2F labour markets’ reliance on irregularly employed migrants, the integration and working conditions of irregular migrants, as well as their access to rights and social services. This research will thus serve to strengthen the integration of these EU policy domains by facilitating the exchange of information among key policy actors, so as to ultimately promote more dignified conditions for irregular migrants.
