In Spain, our research will explore the working conditions of legally precarious migrant workers in the agriculture sector in Lleida and in the food delivery sector in Barcelona. Lleida concentrates most Spanish production of seed fruits (peaches and pears), a sector that is characterised by a high unpredictability and a huge dependence on international markets and migrant workers (around 80-90%). Interestingly, there is still a majority of small landowners and agrarian unions have historically played a big role. The case of Barcelona allows to analyse the effects of the Spanish “riders’ law”, regional labour inspections and different Court decisions on the working conditions of migrant workers in different delivery platforms with different levels of compliance.
